One of the rare left footed midfielders to have played for England - Steve Hodge was a gem of a footballer in his playing career

A firm favourite of the iconic Brian Clough, Hodgey began his career at Nottingham Forest in 1980, just after the back to back European Cup wins as Cloughie started to rebuild his Nottingham Forest team.

Steve Hodge stayed at the City Ground until 1985, and in that time he made 123 appearances and scored 30 goals. He was named Forest player of the year 1982-1983. He was also called up to the England under 21s and England B team

After leaving to play for Aston Villa and Tottenham, Steve Hodge returned to Nottingham in 1988 and stayed until 1991

In this period he won the 1989 Full Members Cup 1989, Football League Cup 1989,1990 and was runner up in the FA Cup

Steve Hodge is a fan favourite with the fans at Nottingham Forest, a naturally gifted midfielder with charm and a dedication to the club
