Stan Collymore is an icon of English football - a legendary bad boy of the 1990s, but an incredible striker for Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leicester City.
 
But the fans of Southend FC knew that Stan Collymore had all the talent in the world and would go on to achieve great things, as he was lighting up Roots Hall on a regular basis between 1992 and 1993 with 15 goals in 30 appearances. Stan was the rare occasion where when Southend United sold him to Nottingham Forest in 1993 the Shrimpers fans wished him luck, understood he was destined for greatness and welcomed the £2.25 million fee that made a huge difference to the club. If you go to Southend United FC to this day you will see the Stan Collymore Suite at the ground, paid for by the transfer fee. In fact rumour is that if Southend weren't playing the fans woud travel t Nottingham to watch Stan in action!
 
As much as the Southend Fans love Stan Collymore - he loves them back, still very fond of his ties and his relationship with the club and their fans, he was delighted when we presented these pictures of his early days with Southend for him to sign
