You'll Never Beat Des Walker
One of the finest defenders that this country has ever produced. Des Walker had it all. Speed, strength, agility and would stop any attempts that strikers made to get past him. He was consitant in his approach to games, his consistancy to defending and he rarely missed a game
Quite simply Des Walker was unbeatable
Walker is beloved at the City ground - he started with Nottingham Forest in 1984 until 1992 then returned home in 2002 - 2005
In those those two spells with Forest Des Walker made 408 appearances and scored one goal. Des wasn't there to score, his job was to stop the other team scoring and he was so good at it chants of 'You'll Never Beat Des Walker' would ring out from the stands ever time he played
Walker is so engrained in Nottingham Forest's history he has his own plaque at the ground among the other legends of the club.
It wasn't long before Walker was called up for England and debuted in 1988. He went on to earn 59 caps for his country, representing England in Italia 90 AND Euro 92.
Walker became the fastest player to earn 50 caps for England, doing so in just four years - testament to the consistancy and commitment that is expected with Des Walker
